Monmousseau was founded in 1886 at Montrichard, on the Cher river in Touraine. The cellars are cut into tuffeau, the soft chalk-limestone that runs through the central Loire and provides the cool, even-temperature conditions classical méthode traditionnelle production needs.

The house produces Crémant de Loire, Touraine Brut and Vouvray sparkling wines, plus the Veuve Laperrière line of value-priced sparkling. Production runs through Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir from across the Loire's central appellations.
