Monmousseau is one of the leading sparkling wine producers in Touraine. The business started in 1886 as a family firm and has been owned by the Ackerman group since 2018, which has continued to make méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines from the appellations of the central Loire.

What sets the house apart is where the wine is made and kept: fifteen kilometres of former limestone quarries, abandoned once they had given up the stone that built many of the famous châteaux of the Loire. The cellars hold a constant 12°C with the humidity sparkling wine wants, and the wines are aged lying down for more than two years after their second fermentation.

Still wines have been added to the range over the years, made in the same fresh, pure, fruit-forward style. The approach combines modern technique with traditional method, and the results are consistently good value for the quality in the glass.
