What it tastes like.

The Philipponnat family settled in the village of Ay, in the heart of Champagne. As far back as the Philipponnat archives go, there are records of the family ancestors, the first of whom, Apvril le Philipponnat, was an "owner of vines at Le Léon, between Ay and Dizy", from 1522.

Today, the House of Philipponnat Champagne has a long history of commitment to the creation of quality champagne. From its flagship Brut Royale Réserve to the connoisseur's choice, Clos des Goisses, Philipponnat Champagnes are immediately recognisable - full-bodied, structured yet still fresh and distinctive. They are enjoyed in more than 50 countries and are the choice of the best wine merchants, Michelin-starred restaurants, sommeliers, chefs and private clubs around the world.

About Philipponnat.

Champagne ·Est. 1522

Champagne Philipponnat traces its vine-growing history in the Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ area to 1522. The house is best known for the Clos des Goisses, a steep, south-facing single-vineyard Champagne first released in the 1930s — among the earliest single-vineyard cuvées in the region.

Bottle questions

Before you open it.

A few practical answers for storage, delivery, and choosing the right bottle.

How should I store it before opening?

Keep it somewhere cool, dark, and steady. Wine prefers cellar temperature; spirits are happier away from heat and direct sunlight.

How long will it keep once opened?

Wine changes quickly after opening; spirits and liqueurs generally hold longer if capped tightly and kept out of heat. If it is a special bottle, ask before opening and the team can give product-specific guidance.

Can I ask for a similar bottle?

Yes. Contact Caravan with this bottle name and the occasion; the team can suggest a close match, a safer gift, or a step up or down in price.

How is it packed for delivery?

Orders are packed in bottle-safe cartons. If anything arrives damaged or looks wrong, contact the team with your order number and a photo so they can sort the next step.

What about hot weather shipping?

The team avoids making one-size-fits-all promises around heat and carrier timing. For heat-sensitive or cellar bottles, contact Caravan before ordering and they can advise the safest dispatch window.

Why Caravan backs Champagne Philipponnat

Champagne

"The Philipponnat family has farmed vines in the Marne valley villages of Aÿ, Dizy and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ since 1522, when ancestor Apvril le Philipponnat is recorded as a grower. The current Champagne house was founded in the early twentieth century when Pierre and Auguste Philipponnat acquired the chalk-cut cellars in 1910.
