Lake Breeze Shines in the Halliday Wine Companion 2026!

Apr 8, 2025

Lake Breeze Winery is a renowned winery located in the Langhorne Creek wine region of South Australia. It's known for producing high-quality wines and is recognised for its commitment to sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices. The winery sits on the shores of Lake Alexandria, which contributes to the region's unique climate and terroir, ideal for growing a variety of grape varieties. Once again their wines will be featured in the upcoming Halliday Wine Companion for 2026.

Lake Breeze Rosato 2024 - $21

The 2024 Rosato is made from handpicked Grenache grapes from 1932 plantings. The grapes were crushed, lightly pressed, and cool fermented to preserve fruitiness, then matured on lees for three months to enhance texture. The wine has a coral colour with aromas of strawberry, cherry blossom, and white peach. The palate is refreshing with vibrant acidity and a long, dry finish. Enjoy with niçoise salad or prawn cocktail.

2024 Rosato, 95 pts

Made mostly from grenache, 25% off 1932 plantings, and a 10% glug of old-wine shiraz. A pink-orangey hue. A touch of reductive at first, it eventually opens, offering barely ripe raspberry, watermelon and rind. It's delicately spiced with some fennel fronds and orange zest, delightfully refreshing, super dry and yep, very easy to drink.

Lake Breeze Reserve Chardonnay 2023 - $27

The Follett family has been growing grapes in Langhorne Creek for over 130 years and winemaking since 1987. The region's cool, maritime climate allows for slow, even ripening, preserving fresh acidity and fruit character. The 2023 Reserve Chardonnay was handpicked from the best block, gently pressed, and fermented in French oak. Wild yeast fermentation, extended lees aging, and partial malolactic fermentation enhance its citrus and nectarine flavors. This elegant wine has a long, textured finish and will age gracefully for 6 to 8 years.

2023 Reserve Chardonnay, 93 pts

Gosh this is good, and great value. Expect attractive ripe flavours of melon, lemon, ginger powder and subtle oak spices with a coating of creamy lees. The palate is tight thanks to crisp acidity but there's plenty there on the flavour front. Nice one.

Lake Breeze Pecorino 2024 - $23

Pecorino is a new addition to Lake Breeze’s Italian varietals, an ancient grape from Italy’s Abruzzo and Marche regions experiencing a resurgence. This second release is one of the first Australian versions. Langhorne Creek’s maritime climate delivers a wine with both richness and bright acidity. The grapes were harvested at full ripeness, with 30% naturally fermented in French oak and the rest cool fermented in tank. After 3 months on lees, the wine shows floral, white peach, and almond notes, with a textured, mouthwatering finish.

2024 Pecorino, 93 pts

It's as perky and refreshing as a spring morning with flavours of lemon daiquiri - salty, citrusy, briny and tangy. There's a slip of texture, a slip of sweetness, although plenty of lively acidity keeping this upbeat and juicy. Plenty to enjoy here folks as it's satisfying to the last drop.
