What it tastes like.

Togouchi Whisky Kiwami SAKE FINISH 3 months in sake cask - Wheat corn malt - (Vanilla green apple, malt, white fruit ) 700ml 40%. In the oak casks used for aging white wines in Japanese wineries, we matured Sake (junmai-shu) brewed by us and then used the Sake Cask to wood finish for Togouchi whisky. With a light fruit scent and a moderate acidity derived from white wine and Sake, a sweetness like brown sugar derived from the wood finish, the harmony of sweet taste with the mellow fruity aroma is enjoyable.

Chugoku Jozo, founded in 1918 in Hatsukaichi on the Hiroshima coast, produces the Togouchi range of blended Japanese whisky. The whiskies are blended in Japan from imported malt and grain stocks and matured in a disused railway tunnel near the former town of Togouchi, where temperature and humidity sit close to ideal whisky-aging conditions year-round.

"Chugoku Jozo started in 1918 supplying distilled alcohol to the Hiroshima sake industry and moved into producing its own sake in 1963. The company now operates as Sakurao Brewery & Distillery (renamed in March 2021) and runs two parallel whisky lines: Togouchi, a blended programme drawing on imported Scotch and Canadian whisky stocks; and Sakurao, an in-house single malt programme launched in 2018.
