What it tastes like.

Exceptionally intense and fragrant. It is obtained from the infusion in alcohol of Tardivo di Ciaculli skins, an exclusive variety of the province of Palermo grown at the company in Partinico. Perfect at the end of a meal together with the most typical Sicilian pastry desserts, it is also advisable to try it in the preparation of some dishes and creams.

About Limonio.

Sicily (Partinico, Palermo) ·Est. 1990

Limonio is a Sicilian liqueur producer based in Partinico, in the province of Palermo, working from a citrus business the family has run for more than a hundred years. The original operation was essential-oil extraction from local citrus; liqueur production was added in the early 1990s. The house's signature is Mandaretto, a mandarin liqueur made from the rare Tardivo di Ciaculli mandarin grown only in the Palermo conca d'oro and macerated at the property in Partinico.

Bottle questions

Before you open it.

A few practical answers for storage, delivery, and choosing the right bottle.

How should I store it before opening?

Keep it somewhere cool, dark, and steady. Wine prefers cellar temperature; spirits are happier away from heat and direct sunlight.

How long will it keep once opened?

Wine changes quickly after opening; spirits and liqueurs generally hold longer if capped tightly and kept out of heat. If it is a special bottle, ask before opening and the team can give product-specific guidance.

Can I ask for a similar bottle?

Yes. Contact Caravan with this bottle name and the occasion; the team can suggest a close match, a safer gift, or a step up or down in price.

How is it packed for delivery?

Orders are packed in bottle-safe cartons. If anything arrives damaged or looks wrong, contact the team with your order number and a photo so they can sort the next step.

What about hot weather shipping?

The team avoids making one-size-fits-all promises around heat and carrier timing. For heat-sensitive or cellar bottles, contact Caravan before ordering and they can advise the safest dispatch window.

Why Caravan backs Limonio

Sicily (Partinico, Palermo)

"

The Limonio family's Sicilian business has been working with citrus for over a century. The original line was essential oil extraction — the cold-pressed citrus oils used in perfumery, confectionery and pharmacy across the Mediterranean trade — drawing on lemons, mandarins, oranges and bergamot from the Palermo conca d'oro and other Sicilian growing zones. In the early 1990s the family extended into citrus liqueurs, applying the maceration discipline they had refined for the oil business to the production of consumer-facing limoncello, mandarinetto, and a range of other fruit and herbal liqueurs.

The headline product is Mandaretto, distilled from the Tardivo di Ciaculli — a rare mandarin variety grown only on a small footprint in the Palermo plain, harvested in late winter (much later than standard mandarins, hence ""Tardivo""). The peel is macerated in alcohol distilled from Sicilian wine grapes, then sweetened. Beyond Mandaretto, the line includes traditional Limoncello (35%, from Sicilian lemons), Fico (fig liqueur), Cinnamon, Liquorice, Spices and an Amaro.
