What it tastes like.

Pale gold. Moderate aromas of include faint notes of buckwheat pancake, dilute maple syrup and raw sugar. Better defined on the palate with a semi sweet, relaxed delivery that suggests caramelised fruits, boiled lollies, vanilla bean, mocha and a dry, warming cinnamon finish. Average length. Straightforward but tasty. 40% Alc./Vol.

Gosling Brothers has produced rum in Bermuda since around 1806. Their flagship Black Seal is a blend of pot and column-still rums aged in American oak bourbon barrels. Gosling's registered the Dark 'n' Stormy cocktail — Black Seal rum with ginger beer — as a trademark in 1991. The range also includes a white rum and aged expressions.

Why Caravan backs Gosling's

Bermuda

James Gosling sailed for Virginia in 1806 with a cargo of British wines and spirits but was shipwrecked off Bermuda; he set up shop in Hamilton instead. The Gosling family has run the business in Bermuda continuously since, making it the oldest surviving business on the island. The Black Seal blend was developed for the British Royal Navy and became the standard dark rum on Bermuda.
