What it tastes like.

Our Añejo is a marriage of very old tequila aged in French limousine and nevers casks that previously held wines. It is deep and complex with dried fruits and spice elements like cardamom and allspice which complement elegantly the right touch of sweetness that comes from slowly cooked mature agave. Honey and caramelised nuts emerge from a long finish together with refreshing light menthol. Great to wrap up a nice dinner.

About Don Fulano.

Jalisco (Highlands — Atotonilco ·Est. 1970s (family acquired La Tequileña)

Don Fulano is the Fonseca family's tequila brand, produced at La Tequileña distillery (NOM 1146) in Tequila town, Jalisco. The Fonsecas — descendants of a Portuguese immigrant — have cultivated agave in the Atotonilco Highlands of Jalisco for around 140 years, originally supplying agave to other tequila distillers. In the 1970s the family acquired the century-old La Tequileña distillery and began producing under their own brand. Enrique Fonseca and Sergio Mendoza, fourth- and fifth-generation agave growers, run the operation; Enrique trained in France and Scotland.

Bottle questions

Before you open it.

A few practical answers for storage, delivery, and choosing the right bottle.

How should I store it before opening?

Keep it somewhere cool, dark, and steady. Wine prefers cellar temperature; spirits are happier away from heat and direct sunlight.

How long will it keep once opened?

Wine changes quickly after opening; spirits and liqueurs generally hold longer if capped tightly and kept out of heat. If it is a special bottle, ask before opening and the team can give product-specific guidance.

Can I ask for a similar bottle?

Yes. Contact Caravan with this bottle name and the occasion; the team can suggest a close match, a safer gift, or a step up or down in price.

How is it packed for delivery?

Orders are packed in bottle-safe cartons. If anything arrives damaged or looks wrong, contact the team with your order number and a photo so they can sort the next step.

What about hot weather shipping?

The team avoids making one-size-fits-all promises around heat and carrier timing. For heat-sensitive or cellar bottles, contact Caravan before ordering and they can advise the safest dispatch window.

Why Caravan backs Don Fulano

Jerez

The Fonseca family settled in Atotonilco, in the Highlands of Jalisco, in the late nineteenth century — the family patriarch was a Portuguese immigrant who began planting blue agave to supply the established tequila distillers of Jalisco. Across four to five generations, the family worked as agave growers rather than distillers, supplying fruit to the broader tequila trade. In the 1970s the family decided to acquire their own distillery rather than build one from scratch, and bought La Tequileña (NOM 1146) in Tequila town — a distillery with over a hundred years of operating history.

Enrique Fonseca (4th generation) and Sergio Mendoza (5th generation) now run the operation; both are 30+-year distillers as well as agave growers. Not finding the technical depth he wanted within the Jalisco tequila community, Enrique studied in Europe — wine spirit production in France, distillation methods and still styles in Scotland. The current Don Fulano range carries that European technical influence: additive-free, single-estate, with high-proof Fuerte expressions alongside the standard Blanco / Reposado / Añejo / Extra Añejo tier.
