What it tastes like.

Inspired by legendary tales from San Luis Potosí, the spirit and decanter of our newest icon capture the essence of this state’s desert slopes and valleys.

This mezcal is made with green agave, a plant native to the deserts in the state of San Luis Potosí.

About Clase Azul.

Jalisco (agave) + Santa María Canchesda ·Est. 1997

Clase Azul is a Mexican luxury-tequila brand founded in 1997 by Arturo Lomeli — at the time a 23-year-old Guadalajara bar owner — who shaped the brand around traditional Mexican craftsmanship as much as the spirit itself. The agave comes from Jalisco volcanic soils; the distinctive ceramic decanters are hand-painted by Mazahua artisans in Santa María Canchesda in central Mexico. In 2007 Lomeli established the Tradición Mazahua ceramic workshop, where over 80% of the workforce are women from the local community.

Bottle questions

Before you open it.

A few practical answers for storage, delivery, and choosing the right bottle.

How should I store it before opening?

Keep it somewhere cool, dark, and steady. Wine prefers cellar temperature; spirits are happier away from heat and direct sunlight.

How long will it keep once opened?

Wine changes quickly after opening; spirits and liqueurs generally hold longer if capped tightly and kept out of heat. If it is a special bottle, ask before opening and the team can give product-specific guidance.

Can I ask for a similar bottle?

Yes. Contact Caravan with this bottle name and the occasion; the team can suggest a close match, a safer gift, or a step up or down in price.

How is it packed for delivery?

Orders are packed in bottle-safe cartons. If anything arrives damaged or looks wrong, contact the team with your order number and a photo so they can sort the next step.

What about hot weather shipping?

The team avoids making one-size-fits-all promises around heat and carrier timing. For heat-sensitive or cellar bottles, contact Caravan before ordering and they can advise the safest dispatch window.

Why Caravan backs Clase Azul

Jalisco (agave) + Santa María Canchesda

Arturo Lomeli was 23 years old, running a bar in Guadalajara, when he founded Clase Azul in 1997. After an earlier failed tequila venture, Lomeli completed marketing studies and approached the project differently: rather than competing on agave provenance alone, he positioned Clase Azul as a fully Mexican luxury proposition, with the spirit and the packaging forming a single cultural artefact. The agave still comes from Jalisco's volcanic blue-agave country — the conventional tequila heartland — but the distinctive painted ceramic decanters are produced in Santa María Canchesda, a small town in central Mexico, by Mazahua-community artisans.

In 2007 Lomeli established Tradición Mazahua, a dedicated ceramic workshop where the Clase Azul decanters are made. Around 350 artisans work on the bottles using traditional Mazahua techniques. Over 80% of the workforce are women, many from low-income or unschooled backgrounds; Clase Azul provides childcare, school tuition, meals and transport on top of wages — an unusual labour model in the spirits industry. The range covers Plata (white), Reposado, Añejo, Extra Añejo, plus the La Pinta pomegranate-and-tequila liqueur.
