About Mont Redon.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Rhône Valley) ·Est. 1923

Château Mont-Redon is Châteauneuf-du-Pape's largest estate, with 100 contiguous hectares of vineyard centred on the famous Plateau de Mont-Redon. Henri Plantin acquired the estate in 1923, before the Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC was created in 1936; the oldest vines on the estate, planted by Plantin, are nearly a century old. The estate is now run by the fourth-generation Plantin descendants — Pierre Fabre and Yann Abeille of the Abeille-Fabre family. Holdings extend beyond Châteauneuf to Côtes-du-Rhône (1980 acquisition) and Lirac (1997).

Bottle questions

Before you open it.

A few practical answers for storage, delivery, and choosing the right bottle.

How should I store it before opening?

Keep it somewhere cool, dark, and steady. Wine prefers cellar temperature; spirits are happier away from heat and direct sunlight.

How long will it keep once opened?

Wine changes quickly after opening; spirits and liqueurs generally hold longer if capped tightly and kept out of heat. If it is a special bottle, ask before opening and the team can give product-specific guidance.

Can I ask for a similar bottle?

Yes. Contact Caravan with this bottle name and the occasion; the team can suggest a close match, a safer gift, or a step up or down in price.

How is it packed for delivery?

Orders are packed in bottle-safe cartons. If anything arrives damaged or looks wrong, contact the team with your order number and a photo so they can sort the next step.

What about hot weather shipping?

The team avoids making one-size-fits-all promises around heat and carrier timing. For heat-sensitive or cellar bottles, contact Caravan before ordering and they can advise the safest dispatch window.

Why Caravan backs Mont Redon

Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Rhône Valley)

Vines were grown on the estate then known as Mourredon as far back as 1334, when it belonged to the episcopal holdings at Avignon. The modern château dates from 1842, and 1923 marks the arrival of the Abeille and Fabre families who own it still; the estate celebrated its centenary in 2023. Pierre Fabre makes the wines.

Mont-Redon is one of the larger holdings in Châteauneuf-du-Pape at 100 hectares, a single vineyard covering most of the high plateau in the north-west of the appellation, with a further 33 hectares in Lirac and 22 in Côtes du Rhône. The estate is certified HVE3, and total production across all its wines is around 90,000 dozen from roughly 850 tonnes of estate fruit.

Precision is the watchword in the cellar. Everything is de-stemmed and passed over an optical sorting system that removes unripe or sun-damaged berries and any plant matter, so only perfectly ripe fruit reaches the crusher. The whites are vinified separately before blending and held in stainless steel on fine lees for five months with no malolactic. Reds are co-fermented wherever possible in stainless steel, after which half the Châteauneuf and a third of the Lirac spend about twelve months in barrel, a fifth of it new, before being blended back into tank for bottling. The aim throughout is freshness and aromatic lift rather than weight.
