What it tastes like.

Tasting notes: Vulson is the name of the man who, at the beginning of XVII century, built the house that now hosts the distillery Domaine des Hautes Glaces. Vulson is now also the name of our range of Rye Whisky, and "WHITE RHINO RYE" is a spirit of rye which concentrates the flavours of this cereal, fruity and herbaceous. ON THE EYE: Transparent. ON THE NOSE: Fruity and delicious. Plum, pear, and lychee with an herbaceous element of juniper and mimosa. ON THE PALATE: Beautifully rich and complex. The malted rye rolls sweetly on the palate and is deposited on a bed of dried fruit, pink berries, pepper and cloves. The palette is soft, long and balanced. A truly fascinating spirit.

Domaine des Hautes Glaces is one of a small number of French distilleries operating on a fully field-to-bottle, single-estate model — growing the grain on the estate, malting and distilling on site, and maturing without additives. The estate is certified organic (AB).

The Vulson White Rhino Rye is a 100% rye-malt whisky, triple-distilled (a wash still of 24 hectolitres and a spirit still of 7 hectolitres), rested through one summer and one winter in stainless steel rather than oak — producing an unaged, clear, herbaceous rye spirit at 41% alcohol by volume. The flavour is described in the producer's own notes as fruity (plum, pear, lychee) and herbaceous (juniper, mimosa) on the nose, with the malted rye delivering pepper, cloves and dried-fruit notes through the palate.
