What it tastes like.

Juicy Mulberry and crunchy cherry are the frontrunners here, together with underlying cassia bark and spice.   Seamless integration of soft tannin and fruit, with a taut line of acidity pulling it all together beautifully.  While the underlying savoury elements typical of our vineyard shine, they are encased in a medium frame with ripe fruit underpinning the lingering palate. Absolutely delicious drinking.

About Crawford River.

Victoria ·Est. 1975

Crawford River is a small estate in the Henty GI of far south-western Victoria, planted in 1975 by John and Catherine Thomson. The vineyard is around 50km inland from the Southern Ocean and is one of the more recognised cool-climate Riesling sites in Australia. Belinda Thomson has run viticulture and winemaking since 2014.

"John and Catherine Thomson planted Crawford River in 1975 in far south-western Victoria, in what is now the Henty Geographical Indication. The vineyard sits inland from the Southern Ocean coast at Condah, on cool, even-ripening sites that suit aromatic whites. The first vines were Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon; a small winery was added in 1981, with extensions in 1994 and 2001.
