"Brauerei Locher has been brewing in Appenzell, in the foothills of the Alpstein massif in north-east Switzerland, since 1886. The brewery began distilling whisky in the early 2000s, drawing on its own stock of small oak beer casks — some used for decades to age strong Locher beers — for maturation.
