What it tastes like.

Domaine Saint Damien Gigondas Blanc 2024 — a rare white from one of the reference Gigondas producers, drawn from the estate's small Clairette and Bourboulenc parcels on the plateau near the domaine. Saint Damien farms organically in the Dentelles de Montmirail.

Predominantly Clairette Blanche (the minimum 70% required under the recent Gigondas Blanc appellation) with traditional Rhône whites — Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc, Roussanne. Whole-bunch pressed, fermented partly in barrel and partly in tank, with lees ageing for textural depth.

White peach, citrus blossom, fennel, soft spice and a stony mineral undercurrent. The palate is rounded and textural, with bright acidity, herbal lift and a long, dry close. A natural with grilled fish, Provençal vegetables, aioli and soft goat cheeses. Drinking now to 2030.

The house

About Saint Damien.

Rhône ·Est. 1821

Domaine Saint Damien is a 45-hectare Gigondas estate run by Joël and Romain Saurel, the fourth and fifth generations of the Saurel family on the property. The estate took its current name in 1979, after a chapel that once stood near the cellar.

Bottle questions

Before you open it.

A few practical answers for storage, delivery, and choosing the right bottle.

How should I store it before opening?

Keep it somewhere cool, dark, and steady. Wine prefers cellar temperature; spirits are happier away from heat and direct sunlight.

How long will it keep once opened?

Wine changes quickly after opening; spirits and liqueurs generally hold longer if capped tightly and kept out of heat. If it is a special bottle, ask before opening and the team can give product-specific guidance.

Can I ask for a similar bottle?

Yes. Contact Caravan with this bottle name and the occasion; the team can suggest a close match, a safer gift, or a step up or down in price.

How is it packed for delivery?

Orders are packed in bottle-safe cartons. If anything arrives damaged or looks wrong, contact the team with your order number and a photo so they can sort the next step.

What about hot weather shipping?

The team avoids making one-size-fits-all promises around heat and carrier timing. For heat-sensitive or cellar bottles, contact Caravan before ordering and they can advise the safest dispatch window.

Why Caravan backs Domaine Saint Damien

Rhône

"The Saurel family has farmed vines on this property in Gigondas since 1821. The current name was adopted in 1979, taking it from a chapel that once stood near the cellars. Joël Saurel returned to the estate in 1996 and brought in Philippe Cambie as consulting winemaker in 1998. His son Romain has progressively taken on winemaking duties.
