What it tastes like.

Marenco is a long-running family producer based in Strevi, in the Monferrato hills of Piedmont, with a reputation built on Moscato d'Asti and Brachetto d'Acqui. This 'Scrapona' Moscato d'Asti is the house's single-vineyard expression β€” lightly sparkling, lightly sweet and made in the classic Asti style with low alcohol.

The 2021 vintage was bright and aromatic across the Monferrato. Expect a pale straw-gold colour with a delicate bead and a beautifully perfumed nose of orange blossom, ripe peach, honeysuckle, white grape and a hint of musk. The palate is sweet but cleanly balanced by Moscato's natural acidity, with a fine, soft sparkle and a long, fruit-driven close.

A perfect end-of-meal wine β€” pair with fresh stone fruit, almond biscotti, panettone or blue cheese. Also a fine aperitif on a warm afternoon. Served well-chilled.

About MARENCO.

Piedmont Β·Est. 1925

Marenco is a family winery in Strevi in the Acqui Terme area of Piedmont, producing Brachetto d'Acqui DOCG β€” a sweet, low-alcohol sparkling red from the Brachetto Nero grape β€” alongside Moscato d'Asti DOCG and Piemontese still wines. Founded by Michele Marenco in the early twentieth century, the estate is now in its fourth generation of family ownership.

Bottle questions

Before you open it.

A few practical answers for storage, delivery, and choosing the right bottle.

How should I store it before opening?

Keep it somewhere cool, dark, and steady. Wine prefers cellar temperature; spirits are happier away from heat and direct sunlight.

How long will it keep once opened?

Wine changes quickly after opening; spirits and liqueurs generally hold longer if capped tightly and kept out of heat. If it is a special bottle, ask before opening and the team can give product-specific guidance.

Can I ask for a similar bottle?

Yes. Contact Caravan with this bottle name and the occasion; the team can suggest a close match, a safer gift, or a step up or down in price.

How is it packed for delivery?

Orders are packed in bottle-safe cartons. If anything arrives damaged or looks wrong, contact the team with your order number and a photo so they can sort the next step.

What about hot weather shipping?

The team avoids making one-size-fits-all promises around heat and carrier timing. For heat-sensitive or cellar bottles, contact Caravan before ordering and they can advise the safest dispatch window.

Why Caravan backs MARENCO

Piedmont

Brachetto d'Acqui is a DOC and DOCG covering a small zone around the spa town of Acqui Terme in southern Piedmont, where the sandy soils suit the delicately perfumed Brachetto grape. The wine is produced as a frizzante (lightly sparkling) or occasionally as a still dessert wine, with residual sweetness retained by halting fermentation under pressure. Marenco also produces Moscato d'Asti and Barbera d'Asti from surrounding hillside vineyards.
