Domaine La Barroche
Domaine La Barroche ChΓ’teauneuf-Du-Pape Julien Barrot 2022
What it tastes like.
Made from 63 % Grenache, 13 % Mourvedre, 11 % Syrah, 7 % Counoise, 5 % Cinsault, 1 % Vaccarese, 1 % other varieties grown mainly in the north/north-east area of the appellation in red clay and sandy soil with average age of vines being 65 yo and nearly 50% of the Grenache being 100+ yo. This gives a wine with a great deal of freshness and extremely refined aromas with an elegant silky mouthfeel. Fully de-stemmed and fermented in concrete tulip-shaped tanks with gentle extraction and gravity flow used throughout the winery over all 4 levels for gentle handling at all stages. Aged for 22 months (longer than previous vintages) on lees in demi-muid barrels, foudres and concrete tanks. The resulting wine is fresh with great elegance yet also texture and great length and depth to the palate. This will surprise with its ageing capacity yet is so approachable already.
βThe 2022 ChΓ’teauneuf Du Pape CuvΓ©e Julien Barrot is also beautiful. Based on 63% Grenache, 13% MourvΓ¨dre, 11% Syrah, 7% Counoise, 5% Cinsault, and the rest Clairette Rose that was partially destemmed, its deeper ruby/plum hue is followed by terrific aromatics of ripe black cherries, sappy garrigue, licorice, and chalky minerality. It's not massive yet brings a beautiful sense of concentration and mid-palate depth, ripe, polished tannins, and just about flawless balance. A gorgeous 2022, itβs going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and cruise over the following decade or more.β 94 points, Jeb Dunnuck, October 2024.

Before you open it.
A few practical answers for storage, delivery, and choosing the right bottle.
How should I store it before opening?
Keep it somewhere cool, dark, and steady. Wine prefers cellar temperature; spirits are happier away from heat and direct sunlight.
How long will it keep once opened?
Wine changes quickly after opening; spirits and liqueurs generally hold longer if capped tightly and kept out of heat. If it is a special bottle, ask before opening and the team can give product-specific guidance.
Can I ask for a similar bottle?
Yes. Contact Caravan with this bottle name and the occasion; the team can suggest a close match, a safer gift, or a step up or down in price.
How is it packed for delivery?
Orders are packed in bottle-safe cartons. If anything arrives damaged or looks wrong, contact the team with your order number and a photo so they can sort the next step.
What about hot weather shipping?
The team avoids making one-size-fits-all promises around heat and carrier timing. For heat-sensitive or cellar bottles, contact Caravan before ordering and they can advise the safest dispatch window.
