What it tastes like.

From vines located at the top of the hill of Grand Crus only metres from the Grand Valmur and also this year this wine includes another 0.4 ha planting also at the crest of the hill of Grand Crus (just above Vaudesir) that the Moreau family have planted more recently.

This wine shows amazing depth and detail and provides remarkable value. An absolute bargain but unfortunately a very small vineyard and very limited quantities available as this is their smallest holding (after the tiny 0.41 ha of Clos des Hospices dans Les Clos). Sells out very quickly!

Christian Moreau Père & Fils is a Chablis-only estate in Burgundy, France, led by Christian Moreau since 2002 following the sale of the family's negociant business, J. Moreau & Fils, to the Boisset group. The domaine's vineyards span all seven Chablis Grand Cru vineyards — including Clos, Valmur, Blanchot and Vaudésir — plus several Premiers Crus, all on the Kimmeridgian chalk soils that define the Chablis AC.

Chablis

The Moreau family has been part of the Chablis wine trade for generations; the domaine in its current form focuses on estate-grown wines rather than négoce sourcing. Vineyards include parcels in several Premier Cru lieu-dits — Vaillons, Montée de Tonnerre — and Grand Cru Les Clos. Chablis is made solely from Chardonnay, with the mineral Kimmeridgian limestone and clay soils giving the wines their characteristic oyster-shell and green-apple character.
