Eric Bordelet Poiré Authentique 2021 — a perry made from heritage perry pear varieties grown in Eric Bordelet's orchards in Charchigné (Mayenne), Normandy. Bordelet is the reference producer for French cider and perry, having trained as a sommelier and worked at L'Arpege in Paris before returning to the family farm.
Bordelet farms over 25 heritage pear varieties on schist and granite soils, hand-harvests, and ferments slowly with native yeasts. The Authentique is the entry into the perry range — lightly sparkling, gently fermented, no added sulphur except a tiny dose at bottling.
Ripe pear, quince, honey, blossom and a delicate citrus lift. The palate is fine-textured, gently off-dry, with persistent fine bubbles, low alcohol and a clean, dry finish. A serious aperitif and a natural match for cured ham, blue cheese and apple-based desserts. 4.5% ABV, 750ml.
