What it tastes like.

It can be said that Aperol aperitivo is the perfect result of seven years’ hard work, experimentation and dedication from the Barbieri brothers, Luigi and Silvio, who inherited a liqueur company from their father, Giuseppe, in 1912 and went on to create the iconic Aperol in 1919.

Aperol is the perfect aperitif. Bright orange in colour, it has a unique bittersweet taste deriving from a secret recipe that has remained unchanged since its creation. An infusion of many herbs and roots in a perfectly balanced combination. Aperol Aperitivo, from 1919.

About Aperol.

Veneto ·Est. 1919

Aperol is an Italian aperitivo produced in Padua since 1919, created by brothers Luigi and Silvio Barbieri. The formula combines bitter and sweet orange, rhubarb, gentian and proprietary plant extracts at 11% ABV. Campari Group acquired the brand in 2003. The Aperol Spritz — Aperol and Prosecco over ice, finished with a splash of soda — is one of the most-ordered aperitivo serves across European on-trade markets.

Bottle questions

Before you open it.

A few practical answers for storage, delivery, and choosing the right bottle.

How should I store it before opening?

Keep it somewhere cool, dark, and steady. Wine prefers cellar temperature; spirits are happier away from heat and direct sunlight.

How long will it keep once opened?

Wine changes quickly after opening; spirits and liqueurs generally hold longer if capped tightly and kept out of heat. If it is a special bottle, ask before opening and the team can give product-specific guidance.

Can I ask for a similar bottle?

Yes. Contact Caravan with this bottle name and the occasion; the team can suggest a close match, a safer gift, or a step up or down in price.

How is it packed for delivery?

Orders are packed in bottle-safe cartons. If anything arrives damaged or looks wrong, contact the team with your order number and a photo so they can sort the next step.

What about hot weather shipping?

The team avoids making one-size-fits-all promises around heat and carrier timing. For heat-sensitive or cellar bottles, contact Caravan before ordering and they can advise the safest dispatch window.

Why Caravan backs Aperol

Veneto

The Barbieri family introduced Aperol in Padua in 1919, targeting a lighter, lower-alcohol alternative to the stronger amaro tradition. Its distinctive orange colour comes from the botanicals rather than added colouring. The brand's growth accelerated from the 2000s as the Aperol Spritz — Aperol, Prosecco and soda — became a widely adopted aperitivo format across Italy and then internationally. Aperol is now part of the Campari Group, which acquired it in 2003.
